Travel Technology - How to combine Firefox BookmarksView Full Version : How to combine Firefox Bookmarks CVO 1K 2 Million Feb 25, 06, 10:31 am Laptop & Desktop...would like to combine both or better yet sync both...is there an easy way? CPRich Feb 25, 06, 5:44 pm Export from one, move it via USB drive or email, and import into the other. I use AM-Deadlink to check for dead bookmarks every once in a while, and it also can show duplicates and let you delete one version of dupes faily easily. cordelli Feb 25, 06, 8:20 pm Import the second set into Firefox to combine them. Export that as the combined set. Get the free version of foldershare at foldershare.com Move your bookmarks into the shared folder and have firefox access them from there. Then anything you do in one will be moved over to the other whenever you are online. I love foldershare. Another option is any of the online bookmark storage sites like murl.com or the dozens of others out there. Store the sets on that, and you can access them from any online machine in the world. Great for a backup or when using a public terminal. That's free too. Fliar Feb 25, 06, 10:56 pm I use a U3 drive (with Dmailer, but there are others like Migo) for just about everything these days - allows me to have all my documents/Outlook stuff and also bookmarks (including Firefox itself) with me on any computer. I stopped using Foldershare since I found this. RichardUKAus Feb 26, 06, 1:54 am I use the Foxmarks plugin from http://www.foxcloud.com. It synchronizes Firefox bookmarks over multiple machines with a server. You can choose to get an account on the Foxcloud server (for free, currently), or you can set it up to use an Internet-connected server you have access to (e.g. .Mac using WebDAV over HTTP or an FTP server). The plugin is very advanced in that you can have multiple machines with Firefox open at the same time and they're all synchronizing every 30mins or so, with the result that any changes to your Bookmarks on one machine show up on all the others fairly quickly. I think I made it sound a lot more complicated than it is - it works easily and it's currently supported, which means that it'll more than likely be updated to conform to new versions of Firefox as and when they're released. Does it also update deleted bookmarks? RichardUKAus Feb 26, 06, 11:02 pm Does it also update deleted bookmarks? Yes. Everything is kept in sync so that all machines end up with the same set up of bookmarks. |
