The only addition to the very informative comments from the post would be (1) fare basis is not a key determinant. Deeply discounted flights can score regular op ups for elite members. (2) timing of reservations matters. When all is equal, the earlier reservation gets the nod when op ups are first assigned the day before. (3) two DMs under same reservation have higher chance than 2 DMs flying seperately jdsprod Feb 27, 06, 10:59 am How about showing up at the airport earlier than someone else with the same status? Would that increase the "hypothetical" chances of an OP UP? OT: I just got J-F op upped on 2/25 for CX701 (HKG-BKK) on a business award ticket. Guy Betsy Feb 27, 06, 11:46 am How about showing up at the airport earlier than someone else with the same status? Would that increase the "hypothetical" chances of an OP UP? NO. You will be placed on CX's internal 'queue'. Only if the flight is oversold in the class of service that you're on, then you might be considered. Otherwise CX MPC INV, DM and GO members have priority over you anytime. Basically even CX MPC DM members don't even expect op-up's , so for anyone else on any other FFP programme, take a number and wait your turn. (Sorry to be blunt). Really.. CX should be more like SQ and restrict op-ups! |
