Travel Technology - Vonage and Europe

I am a new Vonage customer on one of my phone lines. I am going to Europe in May. Does anyone think its worth the trouble to buy the Vonage Wifi phone or think its worth it to rely on the softphone in comparison to just borrowing a euro cell phone from my buddy?

My Broadvoice plan is SoftPhone only. I carry a Logitech USB Headset in my backpack with me along with my laptop - works anyplace I have a reasonably fast Internet connection. IMHO this is a far better (and cheaper) investment than the WiFi phone.
