Hallo Ladies,

As reported in the October 24th "Miles Link", (New Launch of Star Alliance-Wide Awards, Feb01), anyone have any inside info on the New "Star Alliance-Wide Award Structure".

I see where ANA (All Nippon Airlines), has been using this award chart since September 01, according to their info, these awards are in addition to currently available awards; ANA upgrades, ANA flight awards and Partner flight awards.

Hopefully United will follow and add this chart without changing or eliminating current awards.

Ciao, Marvella. You should try posting this in the Star Alliance forum where all the experts are. BlondeBomber keeps a great chart on all this.

Hope this helps. BVH

I juust checked out ANA's award redemption chart. If this is the template that UA will be adopting as part of *A unified award redemption strategy, brace yourself for a devaluation on the long haul intl. options greater than 14K mileage flown RT:

US-Australia
US-Hong Kong
* UA Bus 90K ANA/*A Bus 120K
* UA 1st 120K ANA/*A 1st 170K

YIKES!

PS- The *A award redemption is based on COMBINING two or more *A carriers; if you fly on one airline's dedicated metal, the award redemptions are based on the INDIVIDUAL airlines' existing levels. So, if you went CLE-SYD on UA to LAX, then ANZ to SYD in F, it would be 170K, but if you went CLE-SYD all on UA metal, it would be 120K.

Interestingly, *A awards in Bus and 1st are LESS miles than existing SQ and TG awards
using UA miles.

US-SIN

UA C 90K
SQ C 120K from LA
SQ C 130K from NY
TG C 125K
*A C 120K

UA F 120K
SQ F 185K from LA
SQ F 195K from NY
TG F 180K
*A F 170K

So, some incremental savings flying on the vaunted SQ, using *A vs. UA award redemption for SQ.
