When travelling domestic in China, I fly on qualifying rates (50% miles or more) on MU and now CA to try to get miles on Asia Miles. I try to input the FFP number when I make reservations but this is not always easy or possible in China (especially for domestic flights) and I always show my Asia Miles card and always ask them if they have input the info (they always say yes  ). However, 80% of the time the miles go missing and I have to make missing mile claims.
I went back to check some of the boarding passes (of missing miles) and in a few of them, just in front of the FF membership number, seem to state UA, MU, etc. However, none of them say CX. Is this the Chinese carriers' way of creating 'mistakes' so that they can try to reduce the number of miles given out? Or are these honest mistakes? As mentioned, I do try to confirm they have input the info but there is little more I can/want to do when they say they have.
Anyone else has the same experiences? Better still...anyone has a good strategy to avoid this problem?
Now this only happens on mainland Chinese carriers. Never had problems with KA.
