Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Missing miles on Chinese partner carrier

When travelling domestic in China, I fly on qualifying rates (50% miles or more) on MU and now CA to try to get miles on Asia Miles. I try to input the FFP number when I make reservations but this is not always easy or possible in China (especially for domestic flights) and I always show my Asia Miles card and always ask them if they have input the info (they always say yes  ). However, 80% of the time the miles go missing and I have to make missing mile claims.

I went back to check some of the boarding passes (of missing miles) and in a few of them, just in front of the FF membership number, seem to state UA, MU, etc. However, none of them say CX. Is this the Chinese carriers' way of creating 'mistakes' so that they can try to reduce the number of miles given out? Or are these honest mistakes? As mentioned, I do try to confirm they have input the info but there is little more I can/want to do when they say they have.

Anyone else has the same experiences? Better still...anyone has a good strategy to avoid this problem?

Now this only happens on mainland Chinese carriers. Never had problems with KA.

KA is not really considered a 'mainland' carrier...

The problem is with the Chinese carriers. Most of the staff have no idea what to input when it comes to FFP numbers. When you make your initial booking with your TA, make sure that your FFP number is entered correctly on the PNR. You may just ask at check-in if they have your FFP number on file. If they do, no need to give them the number again.. or else they might just muck it up. Hold faith that the miles will post. Otherwise it is also best to just keep boarding pass and ticket to send into Asiamiles just in case.

same experiences here.. Last time I even booked the flight DIRECTLY with Air China office in Zurich and the staff there typed in my miles&more ffp number. I asked during the checking procedure in China, showed my card and asked again, if the ground staff really has entered the ffp number. They ALL confirmed that they have entered the ffp number. But guess what? No miles so far..

In about 60%+ of cases you won't get the mileage properly credited. I'm just slowly but surely getting tired to run after all those miles.

Lately wrote a quite a long letter to Lufthansa telling them about the poor quality of CA and that I wouldn't be that happy if CA would join *A in the next few year due to the obvious low quality of ground staff, FA, computer system etc.

actually the same story with Asia Miles. MU, CA, both the same. Always have to run after the miles. All these issues turned me to the conclusion: whenever I have the slight chance to flight with another airline like CX or KA, USE THEM! Don't ever try to fly ANY of those Chinese carriers on international routes! Just getting sick and tired of those extra works nearly every time with those carriers...
