Ok, ok... I've been doing a SEARCH for the past 30 min (NCE, Southern France, NICE, NICE FRANCE, Cote d'Azur, etc---nada...except for some Avis offer & a couple of threads on LeMeridian Juan les Pins). So can someone help out with some info? (Thanks in advance)
I'm planning a quick weekend trip to NCE during Easter weekend, and figured I'd try out one of the new Le Meridian properties. From some postings on this site, I was able to read a couple of rave reviews on the Juan Les Pins Le Meridian (under the heading one of the best of LeMeridian  ). But checking a couple of other advice websites, nothing but complaints. So I figure I'll do just one night there and my second night in Nice proper. I'm undecided between the Starwood Four Points or LeMeridian Nice. (I somehow remember some threads on the Four Points Nice, but was unable to locate a one). As for Le Meridian, nothing on FT, and again only dire complaints about drabness, shabby decor, and uppidy staff on TripAdvisors. Any one with recent stays at either/both ?? I am traveling solo, and while not looking for an eathshattering fabulous experience, I did want a nice hotel (gym, fancy restaurant, internet connections-- not necessary), in a good area. I will just be in the area for 2 days, and in a true FT fashion would not want to stay in the same hotel for 2 nights in a row when there are a couple of options for getting additional night stays nearby :D

I have stayed at the Meridien in Juan les Pins several times. (I used to have annual business in Cannes, when hotels would require a minimum stay of 10 days; thus my need to stay a few miles away and find a hotel without the same booking requirement.)

The hotel rooms are very simple. You'll want a room facing the ocean (although it gets quite warm when the afternoon sun streams in.) The hotel is immediately on the water; there is no beach. You can sleep to the sound of the waves crashing outside. The bar is just off the lobby; the restaurant is sufficient for breakfast but no more.

I like the hotel for the location. It is in the village of Juan les Pins, with shops across the street. I've always been a regular at Le Perroquet across the street during my stays. It has excellent provencal food. It has several tables outside which I like.

I've always had a car when staying in Juan les Pins. It is a short drive to Antibes, with the Picasso Museum. It's a great time of year to go down the coast to St. Tropez. Without a car, you'll find much more to do in Nice.

This is NOT a luxury hotel. However, it is a very affordable property in a area where hotels are very expensive, and is very well sited for seeing the sights of the French Riviera.
