Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - What meal service to expect in J on SFO-HKG?

As the title says, what meal service can I expect on the 12:10AM departure from SFO-HKG in business class? I'm trying to decide whether I should snack in the lounge beforehand, or try to get a bigger meal ahead of time.

Thanks.

Have you flown CX before?

You really don't need to snack beforehand..

More than enough food...

A hot supper will be served after takeoff -- a bit abbreviated from regular dinner service, but still good -- appetizer salad and bread, followed by entree, and then full cheese and fruit service and then dessert. If you are still hungry, there are always the snack on demand service, which features a noodle soup, a hot sandwich or pizza or snack, and some Chinese bread...
Breakfast will be served two hours prior to arrival with a fruit plate, cereal or yogurt, and a choice of three entrees.

Enjoy the CX flight!

PS. Of course, supper can't really be served till at least 45 minutes after takeoff, so you want to want to have an early light supper that evening.

Only in Y. And the food was really very good for that class of service. But, as Carfield points out, it's a late departure and dinner won't be for about 45 minutes after takeoff. Given that, I wasn't sure if they only did a small snack service at that point, and then did a big meal later in the flight.

Glad to hear that they offer a full supper service. ^

And don't forget my favorite amuse bouche, served along with the drinks service-- seared tuna with sesame seeds, served on a pickled cucumber. Awesome! Also, cashew nuts available...

Wow, never read this after all the threads I have read about what the best flight from the U.S. is. I assume that the dinner service is also "abbreviated" from LAX as well for the after midnight flight. :( Thanks for the heads up.

Supper is the same as dinner except one course is omitted (so it is bigger than the full dinner on BA for example).

Even though the menu is the same for each city, the SFO catering is consistently higher quality than YVR or LAX. But the best is from JFK now (rather surprisingly -- it was the worst prior to the nonstop flight introduction, then it improved dramatically). CX does try hard to get good catering at all cities, even the worst is better than the best on most other airlines.

...be sure to sample a Cathay Delight during your flight -- a nice drink to tide you over between snacks :D

Cheers.

As the others have said, Supper after takeoff and Breakfast prior to landing. From my experiences, the SFO flights (873 and 872) are normally staffed with excellent cabin crews and catering services. ^ Enjoy your flight and I'm sure you will.
