Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - JFK-HKG 831 or 889 which one get more miles

Hi,

I am wondering which one will get me more miles or the same. No stopover in YVR.

CX 831: JFK-HKG
CX 889: JFK-YVR-HKG

You get exactly the same amount of miles (8067 on AA). If you make a stopover in YVR, you will earn more miles. Depending on the fare rules, you may have to pay extra for the stopover though.

You will only get more miles if you physically stopover in YVR on CX889. If you try and book two seperate flight segments JFK-YVR and then connecting YVR-HKG, your reservation will be merged into ONE transaction. The only way to legally have a connection is if you are booked in two booking classes.. which I highly doubt you will be able to do unless you have seperate tickets.
