Fly AA J all the way

I am looking on SPG.com, and seeing the same rates for both the Sheraton Gateway and the 4pts. at SFO for the night I need. I understand that the Gateway is further away, but I am wondering if it is worth it. The 4pts. LAX was a dump, and I'm not sure if this is any better. The thing I probably care most about is getting to the airport. I have an 8:20am (standing by for a 7:50) on AA, and want to know which one has better transport to the airport, and how long it takes to get in from each. Thanks.

Can you fly there?

They both have reliable transportation to airport. So stay at Gateway. It's walking distance to Kincaid's for dinner. Enjoy

As far as getting to the airport, either will work fine. However, I would choose the 4pts over the sheraton. The 4pts is the nicest of that brand that I've stayed in, while the Sheraton is a bit tired.

If possible, try to get upgraded to one of the two-floor suites at the 4pts.

The 4 Points at SFO is one of the nicer if not the nicest 4 points hotels. It was built in 2002, and has very nice rooms, a cute bar, etc. I'd stay there over the Sheraton. There's not much at all going on in the area around the hotel, but then again it's not too far from SF if you want to have some fun.

I'll actually be at this hotel for the next 3 nights if anyone's around.

Was just at the 4 Points Sunday evening ($80) 2/12 for the first time. Agree it is a very nice 4 pts. I was upgraded to one of the bi-level suites. The décor is pretty nice for a mid range property. The hotel is north of the airport a mile or so past the car rental center. It has free parking which is nice. The biggest problem with it is the extreme close proximity to 101 on the west side and the frontage road on the east side. It is truly sandwiched in between two roads. If noise bothers you, then you may want to consider another hotel. My room faced the frontage road and was not too bad as the room did have double windows. I’d be very hesitant to stay in one of the freeway rooms. I did not stay in one so I admit I do not speak from experience.

It has been about 2 or 3 years since I stayed at the Sheraton so it may have been renovated since… but I agree that it is a pretty uninspired, but ok place.

I'm at this hotel right now. These bi-level suites are super nice!! A very pleasant surprise as a Gold upgrade.

The staff here is ultra friendly too.

I agree with all the sentiments on this board though regarding this place, great decor, friendly staff, very well designed, nice decor, great restrooms (particularly for a 4 points), but the location absolutely sucks. It's sandwiched between a major boulevard, a gas station, an interstate, and a freeway onramp. Being so close to the freeway, it was convenient to get into downtown SF this morning.

To its credit I could only hear a faint hum in my room during the morning rush hour, and I'm on the freeway side of the hotel.

I'm going there (4 pts SFO) tonight to kick off my 3 for 3 promo mattress run! I'm trying to get to 15 stays during the one month period =) and that will put me only 5 stays from plat with the rest of the year to go. (I'm gold)

Good luck.....

It's unfortunate that the 4pts SFO is not participating in the current 1-2-3 West Coast promo, or you could have "double-dipped".

I stayed at this hotel last year.....and have to admit that I was quite impressed.

Then again, until that stay, my only other experience at a 4pts was at the 4pts New Orleans Airport.......

Since then, I have only stayed at one other 4pts (Downtown Portland, OR)......once late last year and again earlier this month.

I would have considered the 4pts SFO for my 2 recent and 1 upcoming stays at SFO, but chose the Westin SFO instead ($119 per night).

What can I say.......I like the Heavenly Bed and Bath. ;)
