Just heard that a flight from Pittsburgh to DC had been diverted from National to Dulles because Sky Marshalls had determined there was a problem on board. Any truth to this?

CNN just reported that it was for "unruly" passengers.

And "this" will help people feel good about flying?

Stupid. Unruly, fine. But land in the designated airport and take care of it.

I believe that the air marshalls have standing instructions to divert the plane away from National if there is any disturbance.

Actually, I think yes. This is, as far as I know, the first report of air marshalls actually doing something since 9/11. So it gets beyond the shadowy "there might be one onboard" announcements and into "they really are here to help."
