Do any of you have any experience with the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego? I am staying there for a conference during the first week of March. Are there things to do within walking distance or should I rent a car? It looks nice from the website but I wanted a FT opinion.
While we are in San Diego are there any "must see" things? I would love to hear your favorites.
Thanks!

I've never stayed there, but have visited from time to time, as bands playing the Sports Arena often stay there, and I know a few people in the music business. It's very nice, but it is a little isolated. Renting a car might not be a bad idea.
Must see things in San Diego:
The Zoo (http://www.sandiegozoo.org/)
Whale Watching (http://www.seaforthlanding.com/whales/index.php) - Seaforth is walking distance for you
San Diego Harbor Cruise (http://www.sdhe.com/san-diego-harbor-tours.html)
Belmont Park and the Giant Dipper (http://www.belmontpark.com/) - a medium long walk for you
Sea World is okay, but IMHO better for kids.
I know my choices are weighted to the aquatic, but San Diego is after all on the ocean and two great bays. And I was in the Navy and commercial fishing industry here. :)

Thanks for the links. It sounds like I should get a car so I have more freedom to explore. The zoo would be great and I think I would really enjoy the harbor cruise, too. I'm sure I could get some of my co-workers to join me.
A group of people are talking about heading to Old Town San Diego. Is this worth a trip and any idea of how far it might be from Paradise Point?
Old Town (http://gothere.com/sandiego/oldtown/) is certainly something of a tourist mecca, with its concentration of restaurants. It can be very crowded and parking is sometimes difficult. It's worth seeing if you have the time.
But, I forgot to mention the jewel of San Diego, often overshadowed by its famous tenant, the Zoo. I'm talking about Balboa Park (http://www.balboapark.org/info.html) , one of the five great American urban park spaces. Don't miss it.
