Hertz - UK-LHR currency conversion mandatory

I received Gold agreement that stated I could avoid currency conversion charge by telling agent I wanted to be charged in pounds.

I did this on recent rental; but Hertz did currency conversion charge anyway. I then emailed UK customer service about the correct proceedure to aviod currency conversion charge.

After several interations with Hertz I got the following:

Please be advised, as you do not have a United Kingdom mailing address the
Currency
Conversion Charge is part of normal procedure. Please be aware that this
charge will be made in
GBP for all United Kingdom rentals and then charged to the credit card
listed on your Gold
profile.
