I'm about to rent a midsize or larger 4WD SUV for 2 weeks with pick-up at SFO airport and drop-off at Las Vegas intl airport. Neverlost is a must. Played around with coupons and none worked on a one way rental. I was able to apply airline CDP for 10% discount (SAS EuroBonus Gold - 855500). As I'm from Europe I have to buy LDW and LIS on US rentals. I used rate code AUAWE which includes insurance and other charges.
Any ideas, toughts? SUV is something I most porbably will consider because we gonna have luggage and will be driving up to the mountains.
Could Amex Gold issued in Europe help? I tried to apply CDP, it was recognised but gave me funny 0% discount on this particular rental.

one way rentals are very hard to apply discounts to. i've never been successful at doing this. you could try CDP 05 for california automobile association discount - they never have checked for me, but I'm not driving with an international license
instead of an SUV, have you considered a minivan instead. it would limit the mountain driving to good weather conditions because you're not supposed to put chains on a rental vehicle. I beleive the minivan cost is lower and the gas would likely be less as well.
If you look in the discount thread, there are some discounts available for one-way rental (I think $15 for a week). You can also use some of the CDP in there for additional discounts (I recommend the Travel Partners Club CDP).
Depending on how many people you'll be, you might want to consider reserving a smaller 4WD such as Subaru Outback -- it will do just as well in the snow.
Another possibility would be to reserve a F, which will be much, much cheaper, and trying to talk your way into an SUV when you arrive at SFO. Where are you going in the mountains? 4WD may or may not be required if you are only going to Yosemite.
Finally, depending on your schedule, you could also consider picking up the car in the city of San Francisco and saving the airport fee from SFO.
At the end of the day a 2 week one-way rental is expensive no matter how you look at it, but perhaps some of these suggestions will help. Let us know and good luck.
