Las Vegas - stay next month at Circus Circus

I will be in town next month for the MAGIC tradeshow, Feb. 21-24. I am booking really late, so rooms are still available but rather expensive. I found a room at Circus Circus that is reasonable but my question is the rate is the same for the Skyrise, West and Main towers. Has anyone stayed here before and have a preference as to what tower they like to stay in? What tower is the newest or has been most recently renovated?
This hotel is fairly close to the Convention Center. Are cabs still willing to take such a short fare just to go to the CC from here? I"ll look forward to hearing from my fellow Flyertalkers.
Thanks,
flyboyHNL

Indeed. At www.easyclicktravel.com, your dates show the New Frontier at $63, Riviera at $72 and Flamingo (hidden "off the record") at $91. Any of these are better than Circus Circus, IMO.

DO NOT under any circumstances stay at Circus Circus if you are out of college...especially if you are coming from HNL :)
The place is a complete dump, and I would say most FTers would experience more culture shock entering this place than they would during a week's vacation in Europe.

Sorry guys,
but I think nobody has answered the questions FlyboyHNL asked. Maybe there are persons on this planet who need the hotel room just for sleeping. Donīt get me wrong. If you want to have a high class hotel, pay for it and have fun with it. BTW, I have stayed at TheHotel, Luxor, Tropicana, CircusCircus on my trips. ;) So I am not only staying at "cheaper" hotels.

I stayed at the CC two times in their Skyrise tower last year (best access to the pool, but you have to walk through the casino and the promenade to get to your room from the strip) and their West tower two years ago. All rooms were OK, clean and I just used them for sleeping and perhaps watching TV. Maybe West or Main Tower is the best choice for this hotel.
In Germany every cab has to get you to the location you want. I am not sure how this is in the US.

LV cabs should take you to the Convention Center without problem.
However, I'll join the chorus and recommend that you stay almost anywhere other than Circus Circus.

Take the monorail. It works right?

A cab will take you wherever you want to go. There is also "the Deuce" a doubledecker bus that runs down the strip every 10 mins or so. You can hop on that and ride down to the convention center. Its only $2 each way. Just be forewarned it stops like every 2 blocks down the strip, so leave early.
And why dont you just priceline a room? I'm sure you can get something a little more quality on the strip for not much more than what you'd pay for CC

affirmative, but they've raised the prices :(
Single ride is now $5 instead of $3. Though they now have a two ride ticket that is $9 and can be shared with others in a party.

Make sure your co. is at the LVCC not sands expo or another venue, if you can try residece or courtyard, 5 minute walk. If you are stuck at CC, call ASAP and make sure you are in a tower not one of the back lots from the 70's same with Stardust. That shows usually twice a year and in the top 5 for size behind CES, Comdex and the rodeo. As a former cabbie from Vega$ try out the front street side, not the back check in area, it's a breeze from Stardust... Don't eat at CC or West Ho...

Thanks for the tip man! Mucho appreciated. I actually ended up booking a room at Imperial Palace for $123. But I am changing to another hotel thanks to your tip of easyclicktravel.com .
