Las Vegas - Frontier (Trump Towers) remodel plans filed

Since Trump teamed up with Phil Ruffin of the Frontier, it was only a matter of time before the property would have to finally be remodeled.

Phil has been talking about his San Francisco themed 'City by the Bay' for years, but it never materialised. Looks like those plans are history, and a different concept has been developed. Thursday he filed new plans with the county.

Seems he will renovate and add to the existing tower, bringing it up to 62 stories and 2771 rooms. The plans call for themed entertainment areas, structures and facades. Also adding water features, convention facilities, showrooms & shopping areas & amusement rides.

Most interesting is a 500' Ferris Wheel along Las Vegas Blvd. with 32 cars that hold 25 passengers.

Sounds just like the Voyager Wheel that was announced to be built at the Westward Ho, only 100' shorter and more passengers per car. Can't imagine they'll build 2.

I read a few years ago that the Rio was planning some kind of ferris wheel structure. The cars were going to be very large and move very slowly taking about an hour to make the circle. I don't remember all of the details. Did that get cancelled? I haven't heard any more about it.

I'd like to see Ruffin and Trump create a nice property at that location. With the Stardust and Westward Ho closing and redeveloping the north end of the strip will become the new "in" place to be. I'm sure the Riv will be next.

The Riv has some luxury condos opening there but the Riv property will keep operating for now. Funny how it seems Rufdin does not have the financial backing to pull off a complete knock down on the Frontier. Trump will be involved with him but wont give any money so it seems..
