Hi, I'm posting this in the Aeroplan section as well, but seems like the Frenquet Flyers don't know for sure...

I got a hotel reward from Aeroplan staying at a *wood property. I got the certs today, and they say Category 4 - 24,000 miles and the rate plan is Aerored4. The *wood hotel confirmation, however, just says the rateplan is Aeroplan. Now, on the Aeroplan website it clearly lists the hotel as costing 24,000 miles a night, which is what I got, but I'm very slightly worried that about the Category 4 wording. It shouldn't have anything to do with SPG categories, right? This is a category 5 hotel by SPG levels, but I'd imagine that Aeroplan has its own categories and that's what I'm seeing... I hope

The reason I ask and check is because I just don't want to be turned away at the desk, that'll suck.

I don't think you'll have any problem. Take a print out of the Aeroplan categories with you, just in case. I doubt they will look at the certs that closely anyway. What hotel are you using them at?

This is a ?? for the Lurker!
Many hotels changed category in Dec. 2005, so I suspect that Aéroplan has not updated its list of categories & that Cat. 4 means Starwood Cat. 4.

These awards are directly related to the SPG category a property has. I suspect the same as Brendan...Aeroplan hasn't yet changed their category listings to reflect ours.

In the meantime, I'm asking what if any effect this will have on someone checking in. But it would help if I knew which property this was. Even better if I had the confirmation number.
