Hilton HHonors - Lost "Free Night" certificate

Has anyone lost a Free Night (paper hard copy) certificate before, if so what did you do?

I assume a simple call/email to the Diamond Desk will be enough to have them send me a copy but wanted to check here first.

Me and my stupid "this should be a safe place to put this" idea. :rolleyes:

I'm assuming that this is one of the Reward certificates from the 5/10/15 stay promotion. Condition no 5 of the General Terms and Conditions for these free Reward nights states:
Reward Confirmations will not be replaced, reissued or credited if lost, stolen or otherwise destroyed. Rewards for travel which have already been ticketed cannot be re-deposited. Hilton HHonors Worldwide, LLC, is not responsible for performance of the U.S. or local Postal Service or other suppliers.

Have you not kept an electronic copy? The above condition sounds quite harsh, so hopefully you may be lucky in getting it replaced. If it's just a standard free night certificate using points, I would think you should be able to get a replacement.

That's not what the Diamond desk told me. I too thought I lost my cert from the 5/10/15 promo, so out of desperation I called and pleaded, but to no avail.

That condition is clearly stated on the cert - no cert, lost, stolen or whatever - no replacement and obviously no free stay.

Luckily, I found it a day later when I remembered where I hid it so well to safeguard it. :D

From that point on, I permanently save the e-mails with the certs so I will always be able to print a new one if needed.

I hope the OP has better luck with HHonors, but that was my experience.

Yup ... I have an email folder titled "Must Save" where I dump Hilton certs, SW rewards notifications, etc. Of course I print them out, but if they're lost, I just print 'em again.

And, yes, those T&C's do seem a bit harsh.

Yes, from the stay 3/5/7 get 1/2/3 free promo.
And no, no email since I recieved a hard copy only through snail mail.

Funny (sad) thing is I have the T&C page (2nd page) but not the page with the code and my personal info on it. I'll keep looking...
