Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - East Timor?

Has anyone been? We're going to be in Darwin for a week in August and wanted to hop over for a day trip (collecting a new passport stamp! arrive 9 am, leave 5 pm). We'd only have time to look around Dili, really. Anything worthwhile to see?

Never made that trip after all, but looking to try this again in August. Anyone with recent info on East Timor/Dili?

Here's my travel advice:

Level III armour won't stop a 7.62mm round - level IV will.

The UK government "advise against all but essential travel to East Timor, because of the uncertain security situation", but I'm told there is great coffee there and the people can be very friendly -- but I would avoid crowd situations because of the risk of violent public disorder that even the UN police avoid.

How much does it cost to fly from Darwin? There are published fares on 'TL' from £250 plus taxes.
