A few days ago, Sixt has changed the conditions for their "Ring&Rent" Service (called "Handy Service" in Germany): Instead of the 2000 Lufthansa miles you would receive until then you now only get the usual 500 miles... :td:

This is really bad news :( I like using Ring&Rent cause it's much faster than using the counter even the plat line. And 2000 LH miles were a great give-away and using r&r I earned nearly as much miles as flying LH (~100k) But I was always waiting for the day they'd cancel it. So I have to see if I'll split my somewhat 60 rentals a year between Sixt and Hertz. Since today the 2000 miles were a strong argument using Sixt instead of Hertz...

Yeah, same here, I also tried to use Sixt whenever possible for my rentals in Germany, but will very likely switch to Hertz know.
So only way to earn some more miles/points is using HHonors (http://ag.sixt.com/partner/partnerdpl.php3?PARTNERDIR=hotels&PARTNER=hilton.txt) Double Dipping. Using HH frist with your Sixt Plat (Gold) card you'll receive additional 5k (3k) HH point and 500 Point for every rental. ^

HH allows you to transfer them to LH M&M later on.
Are you sure about this? HH has a bunch of airline partners, but LH is not one of them. At least according to:
http://hhonors.hilton.com/en/hhonors/rewards/exchange_2.jhtml
But exchanging 500 HH points to BA or AF/KL miles would only yield 50 miles anyway. Certainly not worth the hassle for me (you can specify only one partner account in the online booking form, so I assume that you have to produce your cards with every rental at the counter).

Thanks, mixed something up. Corrected it.
I think that you need to use your HH account when booking. Over your HH account you'll get the LH miles. Never used Double Dipping with Sixt so far. Only when staying in Hotels and there it goes this so: no FFP card need to present.
I read on the vodafon web (Germany) site that you get 1000 points for your first rental with Sixt. Since you can convert them into miles that will give some extra miles at least for the next rental.

It is not the first time that sixt announced to cut down the r&r miles, but always after short time turned back to the 2000 miles earning scheme. I think it is very important to NOT rent sixt cars at airport stations anymore to show them how important the 2k miles perk is.

Double dipping with HH works fine, even online. You select LH as your FF program and insert your number. Then you put HHxxxxxxxx in the field "order one" and you are all set. Sixt just posted another 9000 HH points into my account yesterday. ^ I am making a couple of free nights with HH through this little known feature.

BTW: Europcar has better weekend-rates than Sixt at every airport station (some exceptions for sixt loyalty3 members). Try Thursday 18 - Monday 9: XDAR EUR 145, LDAR EUR 116 incl. airport-fee! :)

Why? Some Promo I missed or can still go for?

ulev, thanks! I will try this for my rental on Wednesday. Would have never guessed that this worked, I always assumed that the other fields are just text for them to put on the invoice.
I guess "order one" is the "Order no." field (found no "order one" in my form)?
BTW: I noticed that the SEN prices went up approx 10%, too. Or is it only me?

In the German internet booking form the field is called "Referenznummer". It is the first field down after the selection of your bonus system. "Order one" is the internal field name in their reservation system. ;) You should also note, that it sometimes takes several months, before the points show up in your HH account and if the account number is not preceded with HH on your invoice you don't get anything.
All prices based on their international standard rate did indeed go up in December. Most business rates are based on this rate minus a certain percentage, i.e. 30% for SEN or 40% for HON.
That's why I liked the dba rate so much, where you can get the smallest car for 49.00 EUR including (!) airport service charge and insurance. They have not raised this rate yet AFAIK, but they stopped giving LH miles and HH points. :(

My rates changed somewhen last week, I did some bookings in January with the old rates. Now it seems as if both the Happy Digits rate as well as booking via AMEX Platinum are cheaper for mid-week rentals than the SEN rate (-35%).
49 EUR including the airport service fee is indeed a nice rate!

Yes, loyalty3 rates changed, too. :td:
Had a rental yesterday and my SEN rate changed, too :td: . But that's not that new. Sixt tends to change their rates quite often, but there is almost only a little difference. If I reserve a car more than one week in advance I alway try the internet rate, too. At least for weekday rentals at airport stations it is sometimes cheaper than the SEN rate.
