Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - What are the Load Factors on TG994 & TG981 and equipment used?

Hi everyone,

I will be flying MEL - BKK (21/02/06) on TG994 and return (26/02/06) on TG981 and would like to know what the load factors are like in the premium classes. I am aware that T994 will be operated by a B744 but I am currently unable to determine the equipment used for TG981. Several weeks ago TG981 showed an A346 on Carlson Wagonlit Travel & T&T ITN tools, but this data seems to have disappeared since.

This is primarily to determine whether it would be worth me (and my partner) to purchase standby upgrades on both sectors.

Thanks a million, everyone.

just back on tg981, load factor low up front, full in rear, and it was a new 340 with sleepers. I normally skip dinner and sleep till they wake me at 11am, in time for breakie and landing at 12.15pm. we appear to be always delayed getting out of bkk, and the lounge doesn't have a screen and i am always scared i am going to nod off and miss the flight. I usually end up going through security at midnight and waiting in departure. always find the flights over full. and lately have been the new aircrafts. i can never work out why qf doesn't fly mel-bkk as i have never been on an empty tg flight yet.

Thanks for the update. Missing red eye flights are also a concern of mine. Touch wood I never have to answer the scenario should I over sleep. :-)

If QF had BKK as a transit as part of their kangaroo route, I would prefer it over SIN. With BA pulling out of the SIN-MEL sector, I am more willing to take a domestic flight to SYD to be able to stop over in BKK.

I thought QF do have BKK as part of the JSA with BA on the Kangaroo route ?. I certainly see QF a/c in BKK, or is that just from SYD ?.

QF has no MEL-BKK flights, just SYD-BKK(-LHR).

QF does have a nice lounge at BKK, much nicer than CX's.

I apologise for being somewhat vague with my previous statement. As Kiwi Flyer highlighted, QF does fly the SYD-BKK route (alas now MEL-BKK).

As a addendum to my original thread, is it possible to purchase a standby upgrade from BKK-MEL from Q class to A class? I vaguely recall a thread whereby someone was able to upgrade their LHR-BKK route to first class from economy.

Thanks in advance.
