Alaska Airlines inspectors in Seattle found 15 incidents of "dry" jackscrews on MD-80 series jets since March 2003, according to an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration. But the FAA, in a summary report made public Friday by the airline, said a dry jackscrew does not necessarily indicate that it is unsafe or has not been properly lubricated.
