Emirates Airlines Skywards - Online Booking Bonus Promotion
As most of you probably know, EK has had the following Skywards promotion for quite a while now (...as a cheap way of saving agency commissions and lowering their own booking and ticketing costs...):
http://www.skywards.com/Offer_detail.aspx?ID=tcm:136-81883
"Book online & earn up to 150% more Skywards Miles..."
The wording they use clearly implies that one can earn up to 150% more Skywards miles compared to bookings not booked online.
However, the promotion goes on to state:
"Book Online Earn for each mile flown Which equates to an extra
First Class 2.5 Skywards Miles 150%
Business Class 2.0 Skywards Miles 100%
Economy Class 1.5 Skywards Miles 50%..."
which suggests that, in fact, you only earn 50% more than booking through traditional channels (as you get an extra 50% in C-Class and 100% in F-Class there anyway, so the difference in C-Class and F-Class to online bookings is also only 50%).
This would be completely contrary to the first statement, and therefore more than misleading (which wouldn't surprise me at all with EK). Can anyone confirm this based on actual mileage credits they have received (I only use EK for connecting flights ticketed on non EK-tickets, so never have reason to book with them online)?

Hey,
The EK wording is rather unclear. Have a look at their RTW routing rules and this will seem like nothing :)
What EK have done here (which, in their defense...they have tried to make it clearer) is to not include the COS bonus for F/J classes. They have done this so people don't assume the COS bonus also gets the online booking bonus.
Let me illustrate with an example
LHR-DXB F class
Flown Miles: ~4000 miles
Bonus Miles (150%) on the FLOWN MILES ONLY : ~6000 miles
COS bonus for F class (100%) : ~4000 miles
Total : 14000 miles
If EK didn't explain it the way they did, people would assume:
Flown Miles + COS Bonus : ~8000 miles
Bonus Miles (150%): ~12000 miles
Total: 20000 miles
If you look at the terms and conditions, it is much clearer
During the Promotion Period, a qualified Skywards Member will be awarded 150% of flown Miles for First class travel, 100% of flown Miles for Business class travel, and 50% of flown Miles for Economy class travel, as “Bonus Miles” for each flight taken by the Member.
This seems to make the most sense, but like you, my EK travel is usually interlined with other carriers so I don't book online
Cheers

Thanks! If that is the way they credit the miles, I don't have any issue. What I was originally suspecting was that they may also have "hidden" the COS bonus in the online promotion (i.e., if you flew F class, the 150% would include the COS bonus, etc.)...
