Last night I stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel at the Chevy Chase Pavilion at the edge of Washington, DC. The hotel is located inside a mall, which makes it unusual to most ES hotels. Rooms are pretty standard ES rooms, though my bathroom was smaller than usual.
Good points:
* Located 1/2 a block from the Metro
* Although far out from DC (it's a good 20 minute ride on the train to downtown), the area is very nice with lots of shops and restaurants (Maggiano's and the Cheesecake Factory are around the block). It's a pretty family friendly place to stay, I think.
* Diamond status got me two bottles of water, cookies, and a robe (though I had signed up for the bonus miles instead).
* They charge $15 a day for parking, but there's plenty of parking on the street (Military Road, especially) after 6:30 pm.
* Manager's reception is every day (though I missed it)
Bad points:
* Breakfast was okay. All the hot food was behind glass, so you had to ask for everything.
* It's a pretty far ride or drive into downtown DC. You're basically on the border between DC and Maryland.
Overall, I'd stay there again.
