I buy the 40,000 HHpoints a year for $400 just to see my points balance get bigger..but i refuse to spend my points..is anyone else obsessive like this?

Why not do the Walk for Hope virtual walks and get the same miles for $200? And help out a good cause!

Dont worry - i do that kind of no sense thing all the time.

On the face of it - $400 for 40000 points looks a bad deal as it generally doesnt cost $400 to stay a t a cat 6 hotel and you get points for the room charge and sometimes the hotel will prefer payers with any decisions such as upgrades.

Unless you are saving all of your points up for a VIP only reward such as the Hawian vacation reward, 6 free nights deal - in which case it may work out worth the money...

I've got a reward stay booked (Cat 5 - 35,000 points). I'm considering paying for the night and getting points to get my 35K back.

Crazy? I don't know. In this case, the rate is about $150, which means I'll have about 39K more points than I would have had. Under 0.4 cent/point, so it's not that crazy after all. :)

Do it three times ($1200) and you have 120,000 points. Just about enough for an AXON award, which gets you 4 nights at a place like the Cavalieri, which is worth $1200.

What if you do it four times, and get 160000 points. With a little extra of 15000 points, one can get 6 nights at the Cavalieri. Does that sound less crazy?
