Hey guys. Going to Hawaii in July. The itinerary I am planning on booking would have a connection in LAS both ways. Northwest Airlines from DTW-LAS, and then HA from LAS-HNL. On the way out I have no worries because we would get into LAS at 7AM and the flight does not leave until 2:45 in the morning the next day. Figured would spend some time in Vegas and stuff for the day. My question is on the return leg. I noticed that the flights on HA arrive in terminal 2 and the NWA flights arrive and depart in terminal 1. The flight I am intending to book gets in at 10:55 PM, and the NWA flight leaves at 12:45 AM. Is 1 hours and 50 minutes enough time to get bags from terminal 2 take them to terminal 1 and recheck back on NWA, pass through security and get to our flight??? There is another NWA flight back from Vegas I could book first thing in the morning, but I would prefer the earlier flight as it would really make for a long day.

Thanks in advance.

You question will likely be better fielded over on the Las Vegas forum where there are probably a bit more regular folks transiting through LAS rather than it being their final destination (ala many Hawaiian flyers), as such I'll move this thread over the Las Vegas forum with a re-direct left in the Hawaii Airlines forum.

No, simply its not enough time with checked bags-- although if everything were perfect you could possibly do it but even if you retrieved your checked bags and got to the NWA counter at midnight they will not accept them as they require your bags to be checked in at least 75 minutes prior to departure at LAS and they do enforce that. Better off taking the next flight and having a nice night in Vegas.

Good Luck

You might call to check, but I'm partly sure that Hawaiian has interline baggage agreements with Northwest at LAS. If I'm right and they do, you wouldn't need to reclaim your luggage. Just tell the agent in HNL to check you bags through to your final destination.

Yes, Northwest does have an interline agreement with Hawaiian. I agree with slippahs that you can check your bags straight through in HNL. You may need to show your printed Northwest itinerary to the HNL agent, so take a printed copy of your itinerary and ticket receipt for each airline with you.

I think that 1 hour 50 minutes is enough time to change terminals and pass back through security. 1 hour 15 minutes would concern me.

FWIW, dining options start to get limited at that late hour in LAS airport, but there are a few options within terminal 1 until around midnight. If you have a laptop, you may be interested in LAS's free wireless internet access. When checking in baggage in LAS, it must be checked in at least 45 minutes prior to flight time to satisfy TSA.
