I live in germany, will be in argentina a few weeks with my girlfriend and thought having my phone with me could be good if i could buy a cheap or temporary phone number card, so i have a phone number for a month and buy prepaid minutes. is that possible with that phone at all?

This link might help:

The four important questions (you'll have to do some research):
Is your phone GSM? (in Europe it surely is)
Is there a GSM operator in Argentina?
Does the operator use the same frequencies as your phone? (probably not, unless you have a tri-band phone)
Is your phone "unlocked" (so that any prepaid SIM will work)?

The phone will work in Argentina (their GSM networks operate on the 850 and 1900 MHz bands, your phone can operate on 1900 MHz (most widely used in Argentina)). One potential problem is that the phone may be programmed to only work with a SIM card from you German service provider. It that is the case, you won't be able to use a cheap local Argentinian SIM card.
