US Airways Dividend Miles - Anyone know if the new 2006 preferred rules have kicked in?

I'm a Silver DM member and am flying to LA on Friday, so called today to see if my upgrade had cleared thinking that the new 2-day rules were in effect, but that doesn't seem to be the case.--Being new to preferred status, can someone tell me is it 2 days in advance, or 48 hours in advance that upgrades clear? And is there an easier way than calling reservations to find out whether or not an upgrade has cleared?

I can not answer the first part of your question, but if you booked your ticket on the web site, you can see you status on virtually there. Click on the itineary/receipt button on the home page and enter the information.

if you booked your ticket on the web site,

Unfortunately I did not--booked it through my corporate travel office--but I will keep that in mind for future trips, as I do usually book on the US Airways website. I read something a while back about a new US Airways website being launched after the merger completed, so maybe soon we'll be able to access all trips online . . .

If you have your intinerary 6 digit alpha sabre code, you can see your updated intinerary on virtuallythere.com even if it was booked on USAIRWAYS.com. Check out your intinerary, it should be printed on it.

Hi Colerc,

As a lifetime Silver I can tell you that the new rules are in effect for the 2 day window. You should be either confirmed F or waitlisted by now as long as you were put into the upgrade queue. If you or your office did not call to put you in the upgrade queue...do that immediately or someone else may get your seat in F! Also I am not 100% sure on this but...regardless if you booked online or through an agent, you should still have a confirmation code or record locator. If you dont know it check with your travel office.

With this info and your last name you can check the Real-time status of your upgrade by clicking on the Itenerary/Receipt button on the main page of the US Airways website and then entering the information. It should say Confirmed first or waitlisted. (this is via Virtually there)

I hope you get the upgrade...regardless of how poor the US F product is...it is still better than Y!!!

Happy Frequent Flying and God Bless you
