An employee at a swanky Manhattan hotel told police she was struck on the head early Monday morning, knocked unconscious and sexually assaulted.

The attack happened about 4:30 a.m. at the W New York hotel in midtown, the employee said.

Of course theres a trend, its called violence in America. It just so happens to be that it occurs everywhere. I dont think people are seeking out SPG hotels to commit a violent act.

An event that directly affects or is linked to an SPG property is fair go for this forum IMHO.

As a woman who often has to travel alone, I am acutely aware of my personal safety. *wood has done amazing marketing campaigns around their beds, pets, etc. It would be interested to see a safety program given similar treatment, either alone or as part of a program catering to women.

A young woman who was sexually assaulted last month at a swank midtown hotel (W Hotel New York) while visiting the city to get her wedding gown fitted was saddened by Monday's rape of a housekeeper (also at W Hotel NY) - and blamed hotel security.

"It's horrible what happened to me, but I feel worse for what happened to this other woman," said the 23-year-old woman, who was molested in an elevator at the W Hotel on Lexington Ave., allegedly by an employee.
