American Express Membership Rewards - Amex MR conversion to AZ programs

Hi guys, I've really enjoyed reading all your posts as a lurker. At least i decided to register to ask you one simple question i cannot answer alone.

I have a gold italian Amex and i'm a member of AZ millemiglia.
I'd like to convert the MR points to Az Miles (ratio is 1:1) do you know if they are considered qualifying to reach the Freccia Alata or Ulisse club. In that case if i convert 25.000 miles to alitalia program they should award me with the freccia alata status, isn't it?

The miles you get by converting MR into AZ miles are not qualifying miles for status purposes.

If you want qualifying miles for AZ, you need the new Alitalia American Express card; I think this gives you status miles when you spend on Alitalia.

Nick is right -- they do not count towards elite status. Moreover, even if they did 25,000 would only give you Ulisse status, not Freccia Alata.

called mr customare care today and they (what a pity) confirmed :rolleyes:
even if you have an alitalia amex you only earn qualifying miles when you buy alitalia tickets.
