Starwood Preferred Guest - Where are my 6,000 points from the AMEX promotion?

I got a Starwood Amex card in March to increase my *wood points. I had understood that I would receive 4,000 points with my 1st purchase and 6,000 point when I stayed @ *wood hotel or resort.

I received the 4,000 points after my 1st purchase in April. In May, I stayed at the Westin Stonebriar Resort in North Dallas and in August I stayed at the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia. At both places, I paid cash to settle the bill. IIRC, it did not say that I had to use the card to get the points.

I did NOT get the 6,000 points and called to inquire about it last week. I was told that they would get back to me in 10 business days via email. Did I misunderstand the 6,000 point offer?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

My understanding is that the offer was up to 6000 points, depending on how many times you stayed at Starwood properties and paid with the Starwood Amex card. The bonus is 1000 for the first stay paid with the card and 500 for each additional stay (up to 10 stays = 5000 points).

See here (https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/starwood/benefits.jsp#StarpointFirstYearCardmembership) for more information.

I signed up for the Starwood Amex a bit over a month ago, but I haven't done my first paid stay yet and so haven't seen any of the 6000 points yet. (Actually, I haven't seen my initial purchase bonus yet either.)

This is the deal I signed up for in July:

It was highlighted in Gleff's blog:

Appears that *Wood pays out the 6K over 11 stays over a year.
