I wonder what they mean with this: "This document mandatory to issue the ticket must be nominative (name-surname) and will be required at any point of the journey to justify the fare ."
On one hand they require an original ("On presentation of the original of this document..."), on the other hand they offer to "Download the official Air France discount form for MIDEM 2006 here." What's the original then?

Up to 45 % seems to be a big discount for exhibition participants.
I admit, the walk-up admission fee for MIDEM is 1050 EUR which would of course offset the advantage, but I wonder if there are any other fairs with such huge discount offers from AF? I thought, airlines are trying to make the most money possible out of exhibitions when people have no other choice than pay fullfare.
Has anyone ever used a discounted ticket like this?

45% is quite a discount, I wonder if this only valid for Y and J. Where does it say that I need to attend the exhibition? I'd be quite interested to know if anyone is able to book this just with the PDF print-out, since I am just looking for an end of January trip US-Europe and 45% on a Z-fare would be very tempting.

You're actually going? I've opted out so far. I know it's the 40th anniverasry and all but to me the registration fee and cost around it is too much and I'm not sure it will generate enough to validate the trip.

If I change my mind, thanks for the link. Good to know.

I'm looking more at going to NAMM, CMW, SXSW and possibly Popkomm in the fall.

As the MIDEM offers walk-up tickets, noone could ask you for a ticket in advance, but: It says 45 % for domestic flights and a "preferred rate" for international flights - so it's not sure how much it would be from USA to France.

I live on the cote d'azur, so MIDEM is a must for me. (and of course no further costs associated for me)

Please note that this is a G (group) fare which earns only 50% mileage with the AF/KL FFP.
