Loong Palace resort north of Beijing is running a special on HUGE 2 bdr/2 bth through Feb. 28. RMB 700 rate includes very decent breakfast (western&chinese). The place is outside the city on Badaling expressway (taxi to the center runs appr RMB 60) but the location is very convenient if you plan to go to Ming Tombs and Great Wall.
There is a reasonably priced spa (not the best deal but sure beats any western hotel) and two excellent restaurants: Sichuan and Cantonese. Also present multiple bars, bowling alley, overpriced tennis courts etc etc.
Internet is $10/day IIRC.
Staff is not very skilled in English but communication was not a problem.
The place is often used for corporate retreats: I noticed Lenovo and CCTV events during my stay.
