Hi all.
I have a question:
I have booked by myself a stay in Turnberry Westin in Scotland.
I have see on Amex site, with platinum card, I have an Extra Amenity:
" A complementary lunch for up to two people per room ".
How can I have his amenity ? Giving at check in my Amex Plat or only if I book the hotel with Amex travel service ?

Thanks ! ;)

Assuming you have a Platinum charge card, you can get the Fine Hotels benes only if you book through PTS at the Fine Hotels rate. So call Amex and find out what the rate is...it's usually very competitive if not less than the prevailing lowest rate.

What normally happens is that you will eat lunch and sign the bill to your room. The cost will be deducted from your bill when you check out. Check your bill to ensure that this has been done. Additionally, many of the hotels provide a free lunch up to a certain amount, and only this amount will be deducted.

For example, we stayed at the Observatory Hotel (operated by Orient Express) in Sydney last month and one of the benefits was touted to be a dinner for two. We assumed that it would be like our last stay at the Windsor Court in New Orleans (also operated by Orient Express) where we had the chef's degustation menu for two for free at the New Orleans Grill, consistently rated as one of the top restaurants in New Orleans (an amazing benefit). What we got at the Observatory was a $40/person credit at the Globe bar (hamburgers were $50/person, albeit consisting of Wagyu beef) rather than a dinner for two at the Galileo restaurant, which is a very nice restaurant. Needless to say, we were somewhat disappointed. But, it was still a nice benefit, just not as nice as we were expecting.

I have booking directly the hotel... they have give me a special price for my honey moon: 15 euro less the price of a normal room for a suite !
I think it's a very ... nice benefit ( of SPG or Amex I don't know but thanks ) !

At some hotels, at check-in I receive an envelope with coupons for meals and such as part of the benefit. This was the case for the Fairmont in Vancouver.

I have been able to get the amenity a couple of times without booking through PTS. But usually I have to book through PTS.
