Las Vegas - Where can I get a deal on the top Las Vegas Shows?

In previous posts, we've discussed which shows everyone likes in Vegas. But what I want to know is, how can we see these top acts without paying $100 a seat?

My wife and I are planning a trip there in May. She's like to see a couple (of the good) shows. I don't really care which ones we see, I just don't want to drop $500. Probably because I'll do that anyway in the casino :)

Has anyone had any luck in getting discounted tickets?

Call your hotel and ask them how much you have to drop at the tables to get the show tix comped.

You might ask for a locals discount, which are sometimes available, and are likely to be something like 2-for-1. I suspect they'll ask for proof, though, so maybe you could ask a local friend to secure them, for you.

Sadly, "Top Vegas Shows" and "Deals" don't go together. The top shows know that people are willing to pay and as a result rarely offer discounts. When the do offer them, the discount is usually small (aprx 10%) and only through the same-day ticket outlets.

The "deals" can usually be had on what I called the "B" shows. These are usually "house" casino shows whose primary purpose is to draw gamblers to the property. If it much more common to see 2-for-1 (buy 1, get 1 free) type ticket deals are these shows.

There's that place by the Coke bottle on the Strip that sells 1/2 price shows. Forget what it's called, the shows available, and the hours it's open... so basically, I'm of no help whatsoever :)

Last week I was offered "Mystere" 2-for-1. Unfortunately, most of those house shows are not even worth the 50% discount.

There are no deals on the "hot shows. In fact often it is tough to get the tickets at the going prices on shows like O. The half off places dont have the top shelf shows for the most part. Whe they offer a few top shows here and there the discount is much lesss (not 50%) As the ticket prices keep going higher they are still selling. When the show is not selling like crazy (Ave Q) La Reve. They still charge full price no deals. The locals discounts are nothing like they used to be. You need a vegas drivers license anyway.

They do ask for proof. These deals are usually in the off season.

There are two company
one is call Tix 4 Tonight ... I don't know what is the other one call.
They open at noon time until 9pm. 1/2 price or very discounted price for same day show. My sister-in-law saw Avenue Q that way. They have different ticket everyday and tickets are very limited. So go early to line up to buy the "best" shows ticket early :D

The "A" list shows are pretty hard to come by, even at the half price outlets.

Mystere has some $60 (cat4) seats that aren't bad, and next step up is $75 then $95. You can check out the view from each section on their website.

A limited number of Mama Mia at 1/2 price can be bought online at Goldstar events.

The same day outlets are Tix4tonite (3 locations) & Ticket2nite (1 at coke bottle by MGM). Rare to have "A" list, but it does happen. Post shows available at 11:30 and open at noon. I have also seen the better shows have a handful of seats released 3-4 PM, but VERY hit & miss.

A trick to using the 1/2 price outlets voucher or 2 for 1 coupons. For the best seats, get to the show's box office as soon as you can, don't wait until just before the show, or you'll get whatever seating is left.

General admission seating is also first come first served, so get your tickets and get there early for front of the line, & slip the 'd' a few bucks.

There's websites for both outlets, but no shows listed online, just for locations. The links for those, and a $1 off fees & VIP line pass (which is GREAT), along with the link to Goldstar and a bunch of other Vegas coupons and discounts is at

BTW, there is actually a third Discount Ticket outlet in Vegas. Check out:

http://www.showtickets.com

Has several locations. Fairly new, so not as much of a selection yet.

Yep Showtickets is the new discounter in Vegas, glad you mentioned that.

Unless it's changed, the 1/2 price deals aren't available at all their locations, only a select few.

Last I heard, at CVS Pharmacy near the Monte Carlo, Desert Passage at Aladdin, the Forum Shops at Caesars and the Plaza hotel downtown.

Had one at the Boardwalk, but gone since it is closed. Don't know if they've replaced it anywhere.

BTW, Showtickets is the former Allstar ticketing that was bought up by Travelocity. Have to wonder if they're going to offer any travel/show packages sometime down the road.
