Try UK pages. I think most (if not all) of the benefits are just like UK cards.

I called Amex CS a while ago to inquire about this and they confirmed that the list is the same. Interestingly enough, they claimed that even for the International card, all eligible travel would need to originate from the UK.

Not being UK-based, I decided not to go for the card...

Cheers,

From "A Guide to Benefits & Services" (ICC) page 11, chapter Flight Companions Programme:

... Flight Companions Programme is available on departures from the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and a number of other locations. Benefits may vary in each country. ...

I haven't used it (at least yet) but it looks like it should work. I think you probably need to call the country CS directly, Travel Services will provide you the correct phone number in the country of your choice. Of course this program is not available everywhere (for example in my case in Finland, Amex does not offer it and my closest place would be Sweden).

Interesting... So it is not only the Finnish Amex CS that is clueless, but UK travel services, as well (I actually called them). I may need to reconsider getting the Int'l Card. However, I did speak with the Finnish Amex CS a few days ago and inquired about Plat card coming to Finland (other than the Evli cobranded card) and they said that it is coming. However, no info on time frame or benefits.

Does the Int'l Card give 1x or 1.5x MR points? The 1.5x is one thing I like about the Finnish GC...

Cheers,
T.

Interesting ... last time I spoke with them (it was about a year ago) they stated that Platinum is quite difficult and impossible to be introduced to Finnish markets as the service level is very hard to implement in Finland. And I agree, creating a travel services department and lifestyle department etc is quite difficult and expensive. It would be nice to see more Platinum benefits in Finland (now we have one FHR hotel and one Fine Dining restaurant). We'll see what happens.

I believe that every company is sometimes clueless, Flight Companion program was not very useful for me when I decided to apply for the card and therefore I have never used that or made any requests regarding that. But as they very clearly state that in their booklets then it should work as specified. I believe I saw actually an older booklet where they also helpfully listed some of the Platinum TS phone numbers to call in different countries. Now, where have I stored that booklet ... :)

About using Platinum services in different countries: I once needed to book a train ticket in France, AMEX IEC (based in UK) was not able to do that as they would have wanted to mail the ticket to me and they actually told me the French Platinum TS phone number and suggested that I speak with them instead. According to them it is standard practise to help Platinums from other countries as well as local ones. Only exception is AMEX US, which does not help any other Platinums but only their own (according to them, AMEX UK regularly helps travelling US Platinums).

I believe it does, I haven't checked my balance for long time. I have just been collecting the points :)

One thing about the MR - IEC has different rewards than IDC ... For example, IDC has Virgin Atlantic points transfer when IEC does not have that one.

Very nice list for the US members. Many good airlines in the list, Int'l card holders should note that it seems to be the UK list, which is available for us.

Okay, in that case your nearest program hub seems to be Sweden?

I finally found my copy of the Travel Service booklet, page 4 states the same information than I previously posted but also had a table, which includes all the necessary Platinum Travel Service phone numbers. They indicate that if you want to make a reservation, you need to call the relevant country from which you wish to depart.

In your case, I would call Sweden Platinum Travel Service; they have also listed the current program details in their web pages: http://www.americanexpress.com/sweden/flightcompanions - Sweden has Delta listed if that is what you are looking for.
