Travel Technology - self hosting blog software

I am thinking of starting my own blog by installing software on my hosting provider and maintaining it myself instead of using blogger.com etc..

So i went and read some reviews, one which compared Movable Type, Word Press and TextPattern. According to my needs (ease, not wanting to spend too much time customising or maintaining it) TextPattern seemed the best.

Do others have experience and recommendations?

Unfortunately i haven't used textpattern but have used MT and WP. both were easy to use and configure.

I would give a slight nod to WP because of licensing. MoveableType is only free for one author, which made me lean toward WordPress recently when i was contemplating the two.

I've used WP in the past, pretty simple set up.

I've used several MT releases and have found them to be easy enough. There is a large community of MT users who are happy to help. Also, if you like the basic architecture but get to the point where you don't want to deal with maintenance anymore, you can always jump ship to typepad...
