OT? Almost the only thing on this thread I understand. Okay, I *do* carry a Blackberry brick, but its battery is usually totally drained. (Hint: don't call my cell.)

Blackberry (and I get distinctly cranky whenever I find myself without GPRS so perhaps the term Crackberry applies.

iPAQ hx4700. With 4GB of storage this has become my:

-AVOD system thanks to DivX/TCMP
-Music thanks to TCMP/Ogg
-The day's papers thanks to AvantGo
-Reading material thanks to ereader.com
-IP phone thanks to Skype for Pocket PC
-Local public transport guide for whatever city I happen to be in thanks to Metro
-Internet access (either via 3G/GPRS/Wifi) when I'm travelling for leisure and don't want to cart a laptop around.

Oh, and did I mention that it's quite a decent Organizer? Ok, it's not as good as a Palm in this respect but given the flexibility it gives me in just about every other way, I can forgive this. All I lack is a good travel guide for it.

Now I just wish HP would hurry up and get the Pocket PC 2005 upgrade out (delayed until Spring :().

why do you use both Orb and Slingbox? Don't they do the same type of thing?

Orb lets me view video, music and photos stored on my PC. It also works on my smartphone and PDA for those times I don't have sufficienct bandwidth for Sling, or when I don't want to open my laptop for a few minutes of tv.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I'm also considering switching from my contract to prepaid. Is there anyway to do this without having to pay the huge contract cancellation fee?

Bose QC2s, they've lowered my stess level considerably.

Please do consider the Solitude headsets. They don't have the ad-blitz as Bose, but over a 11 hour flight I tried this (I currently own this) with the QC2 from AA and it has a slight hum compared to Bose, but cuts noise more too. Overall better for watching movies and even regular noise cancelling. Saves you $100 or more.

Books. Seriously, I rip a few movies (DVDDECRYPT) to my computer but I've started carrying two large(ish) books as they require less support to use on the road. Latest are: "Brick Lane" and "Winston and Franklin". Think of it as a 15th century gadget.

My Toshiba R200 with extra battery (9 hours with no recharge) - I can go on one-day trips with no power supply. Whee.

The biometric scanner on my R200. Fingerprint logins. Can I please have this on my phone too?
