Hi there! My name's Jessie and I found this forum via another forum where I asked about air miles.

I really don't know anything about airmiles or frequent flyer benefits etc, but I'd like to get involved somehow since I love travelling and want to be able to get the best deals possible, especially between the UK and Spain/North America/South America. I know that oneworld incorporates BA, AA and Iberia, which pretty much covers anywhere I'd be flying to often, but if you earn miles with one airline can you use them on another within that 'alliance'?

I'm really just looking for some advice on what clubs would be worthwhile in joining I guess. Thanks a lot :)

The best advice I can offer is to read, read, read the fora that interest you. Read the current threads and use search to look for relevant older threads. The AA forum is a very active and has a lot of the information you are looking for, as do the OneWorld and BA fora. (Haven't spent much time on the Iberia site but I am sure it is great too.)

Welcome to FT!

Welcome to FT

There are many forums that can help you.

oneworld (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=411)
The complete list of Airline Forums (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=374)

You can read the information in there, and if you tell us what routes you usually fly someone could give you better information as to which program to join

Good Luck

You would do very well to buy Randy Petersen`s book, Mileage Pro.

Echo this, just read the book, it really is the best introduction to thinking about miles and points.

Ask whatever you need to without worrying that it may be a stupid question!

Yes, this site is FULL of a lot of great information.

I just joined myself, although I have been flying ignorantly for years :p

Read, read, read....ask....ask....ask, comment on what you feel is relevant and just enjoy all of the useful information.

I have so much to learn, and I try to read everyday, so I guess I am already addicted lol

Welcome, enjoy, learn, learn and enjoy ^

Also, take a look at Gary's site, www.freefrequentflyermiles.com, where he sorts deals by categories. There's tons of great info, offers, etc. there.

Try my How to Begin page for starters. And be careful. This stuff can be highly addictive.

mira la luna welcome to FT!

my main advice when doing anything regarding a loyalty marketing program involving any points, rebates or miles:

save all receipts, records, printouts, web sites (print the site pages you do things in, don't just bookmark the link and assume it will be there later, cuz they change links!) and take down names and ID numbers of any CSRs you speak to. Write notes to self and print eveything you can! Learn how to make a screen capture on a PC or a MAC and make PDFs too if necessary.

Make packets and "project manage" your mileage deals you do out there in life. This will make it easier to manage more and also help you when you are waiting for things to post to your mileage accounts you chose out there. Accountability does exist but guess who it ultimately falls upon to prove something when the chips are really down...

well, good luck and ask me anytime if the above is at all vague!

happy new year all!
