I need to get between Karachi and Islamabad, in February. Looking at the available flights, I can fly on PIA, Airblue, or Aero Asia. I've never flown any of them and have never even heard of the latter two. Any information available from people who've experienced these flights?

I have been to Pakistan a few times but have only flown PIA. Being the national airline and probably receiving the most attention and investment, i would stick with them. Keep expectations realisticly humble.

Hi,
Airblue is a solid carrier. I have heard of Aero Asia but never flown it, it seems to be well known in Karachi. PIA is getting better slowly and now the experience should be OK. On such a short domestic route it is unlikely that service will vary too much. I would go with the cheapest, and if all are the same price, I would go with Air Blue for it's 30K baggage allowance in Y and it's newer planes. You could even "splurge" (maybe 3,000-4,000PKR 40$-50$USD extra) and fly business class.

Stay away from AeroAsia.
1st choice: KHI-ISB AirBlue
2nd: PIA
Both are cheap and cheerful in Economy class. Air Blue has newer aircraft and more attentive crew.

Great, thanks for your help (and thanks for answering my other Pakistan questions as well!) I am going to have to work with our in-country reps to get all of my tickets, it turns out, since my US travel agent can't book PK tickets--I will request Airblue where possible. I'll work it all out over the next ten days or so, when my travel companions get back from vacation.
At least I don't have to get a visa for this trip. The flights alone are enough of a struggle!

Please PM me if you come up with any urgent travel issues while in Pakistan. I am there about once every six weeks so have probably experienced whatever you might be going through. Best of luck.

Also, if you need a PK travel agent, I have a few good ones. 1 or 2 even communicate by email, (which is a big thing in PK) PM me if interested

Thanks so much guys! I should be OK--my (very large) employer has a Pakistan operation too, so it looks like I will have all kinds of assistance if I should need it. I am a very experienced traveler to India so I assume I will be encountering a lot of the same travel thrills in Pakistan. (I just hope the Indians don't look at me funny when I arrive from Karachi...but I doubt it.)
Looks like I will have a free day in Islamabad, so if anyone's got suggestions of how to best get a feeling for the country during that day, speak up! I know Lahore is supposed to be a much more interesting city, but my business won't take me there, so Islamabad is all I've got to work with.

I've heard that the Margalla Hills are beautiful, they are quite near ISB.
