My wife and I flew on a TG (PVG-BKK) and I asked for standby upgrades. First I was told it was over $250 for a "standby upgrade" and many seats were available. I thought it was worth it so I pulled out my cc thinking how many times will my wife and I go on our honeymoon. No problem. Well, the TA looked at our reservations and since my wife booked this with an agency, and we were a "group", I was told I couldn't upgrade (?!?!?!?!) I said I was willing to pay the difference in fare, but again I was refused.
I was nice during this entire conversation, and I was dressed appropriately and all, but I just couldn't understand their reasoning. I offered to pay for the ticket, and I still don't understand why I was refused.
