MilesBuzz! - Chase offers bonus for listening to them
Got a call from Chase today re my Marriott credit card.
Was home on Dec. 26, so for the heck of it, I listened to them explain the card's features and ask if i was satisfied.
At the end they said, we will give you 1,000 Marriott points for listening, and if you spend $500 within 90 days, another 5,000 points.
Now I'm wondering why the heck i hung up on chase several days ago when they called about my united card

How long did they talk. Was it common information?

If they announced at the beginning of the call that points would be forthcoming just for listening, more people would listen.

they asked my opinion of the card, offered a higher credit line, then a lower rate, asked about if there were any balance transfers I wanted to make or automatic payments from checking accounts, and then made the miles or points offer for listening.
no heavy selling at all
oh and it was obvious they weren't id thieves because they neither asked my number nor personal info, nor did they provide any except to discuss the total credit line and the current interest rate
