The one perk that is missing from the Centurion card in France in my opinion:

AF/KLM or SkyTeam Elite or Elite+ status (Gold)
Maybe a Star Alliance airline Gold status as well...

- Elite membership with add'l top-tier hotel mgmt companies such as Hyatt (offered to US & Japanese members until 2004) and Marriott.

- A Star Alliance member which will be part of the Membership rewards program. US Air Gold status(offered in the US) was reasonable until Dec 2005, but seeing that we won't be able to transfer any miles to US as of Jan 1st 2006, it won't be nearly as useful in the future.

- Better insurance coverage for US CENTs, on par with what's offered in Europe.

Plat card - a more generous airport lounge policy. Let me get in to any lounge when flying, as long as that lounge is sponsored by my ticket's airline OR A PARTNER OF THAT AIRLINE. For example, Get me in to a Prez club when flying northwest, or a World Club when flying Continental. If I fly from MSP to IAH, on Northwest, I can hang out in the World Club on the departure, but am denied the Prez club for the return flight, since there's no World Club in Houston.

Also at MSP, there's a Delta Lounge and it might be closer to my gate than the 2 World Clubs. Let me pick.

The Amex Plat is a nice card especially if you travel, and if you fly Northwest or Continental in particular. The concierge service is nice and I use them a bunch, but they're not as good as they could be. The fact that you get free Member Rewards along with the annual card fee is a decent benefit, I use my MR points at Home Depot and from time to time at Crate & Barrel for the wife.
