MilesBuzz! - Advice sought for best use of $$ and /or miles for FC tix.

I am planning a trip from Seattle to Leon Mexico. Both Continental and AA serve this route and I have enough miles to use either airline. I would like to travel FC and I have three options....

1. Buy a FC ticket for $1200

2. Buy a coach ticket for $512 and use 30,000 miles to upgrade.

3. Use 60,000 miles for a FC ticket.

Is my thinking flawed to say that the best "value" would be to buy a FC ticket?

the use of mi's gives you about 2 cents [a little more for the ug]....

a fc ticket on aa gives you 1.5 times flight mi in mi's and pts iirc [don't know about co]...

what is the total flight mi for the trip? will you need the mi/pts for elite status?....anyway, you earn mi's for the purchased fc or coach tickets...put these numbers into your thinking.
