Heading into LAS next month and will have alot of time to kill waiting for my MR out of there. I used to hang at The Sahara when it had the $1 min but them days are long gone.O'sheas pulled theres before The Sahara did.
Since I see it as a time killer and entertainment Id like to stay away from even the $5 tables if there are any. Just in case it turns out to be a very bad night at least Ill get some play time out of it.
I hate when that so called Free Beer just cost a 100 in a few mins and youre out of there even before she gets back with the suds. Besides the Characters who frequent the Cheap tables alone are better then any Comedy show in Town.

I'm not expert, but try going downtown instead of The Strip. This is near the Fremont Street light show. There is a place called the Lady Luck where I've played $5 craps even on a "busy" night. The decor isn't much, but you can usually find less expensive tables.

O'Sheas doesn't even have $5 tables anymore (except for off-off hour). Most of the time their min is $10 now, plus it's now a multi-deck shoe AND they still pay 6:5 on a BJ. It's sick really.
$5 tables are abundant downtown at Las Vegas Club, The Palace, and Binion's, but I have never seen any tables less than that.
If you want to play BJ for $1, there are many video BJ games (like video poker), and you can find those at even the nicest casinos like Bellagio. But, you lose the entertainment value of sitting at a table with a bunch of idiots.

O'Sheas I remember it well, that is until it was purchased by (Park Place) The Flamingo. the only place that I can recall that served the beer in plastic cups and warm at times- leaving feel it wasnt beer but the reincarnation of it 9to keep it clean ;) . The bottles of water Always were already opened and served w/o the cap again left me wondering if all they were doing was refilling them from a reg faucet.
Until around 2 yrs ago The Sahara had $1 tables usually 3 to 4 all day long. Last time there it was up to $3 at the graveyard shift Only. I just Loved this town after 9-11, empty and cheap, now thats its back on its own legs, the Thrill is Gone.

There used to be a lot of $1 places downtown. The Lady Luck, El Cortez and such. I haven't played there for a couple of years, but if the ones close to the Fremont Experience don't have it, head to the El Cortez, or it's training casino the Western. These are kind of dumpy places, but can still be good.

During the past couple of months, the Westin Casuarina has had something like $1 craps/blackjack and 25 cent roulette during their happy hour from around 5:30 - 10:00pm. I'm not sure if that's extending into January, though.
The San Remo had $3 blackjack advertised on its big sign this year.

The question is if you get to The Westin B4 10 say 9:30 will they still let you bet as before, as must places do when they raise the Min Table Stakes?

Doubtful, but it may depend on the crowd. I once played $2 craps at Four Queens. As it got late, they agreed to keep the table open at $2 as long as the betting remained active. That was one of the best craps tables I've ever played. The workers were young and entertaining.
I checked the sign at San Remo on my way back to the airport yesterday. It claimed $2, $3, and $5 games.

You can play $1 at any dice table as long as you are playing the hardways and propositions (Mathematically these are horrible bets, but we are talking $1 and $2 bets while killing a little time before your flight). Put $1 on the hard six or eight, and if it hits let it ride twice and if it hits a third time you could win $1,000. Put $1 on the 3 or 11, let it ride twice and you could win $4,096. 2 or 12, $29,791. The latter will happen once in 46,656 times for a house percentage of 36%, but it has been known to happen.

Just not the places the average FlyerTalker would frequent. Try the Gold Spike or Western – both Barrick places. Both offer 40 oz (yes, fourty) beers in plastic cups. $1 and $2 tables everywhere. And, no, contrary to what you may think they are not in third world countries.
PS – Park Place became Caesars Entertainment (now with Harrahs). Yes, OSheas is *part* of the Flamingo which is *part* of the conglomerate*
Las Vegas Club (owned by Barrick Gaming) renamed to simply Vegas Club
SAF – Sluts-a-Fun is great: 99 cents round the clock Heineken and Heineken Dark in a bottle on ice.
And off the Boulder Strip, you may want to try Nevada Palace. Dime single zero roulette. I’d reckon they have $1/$2 BJ.
And if you are really adventurous try Jerry’s Nugget, Mahoney’s Silver Nugget or the Poker Palace all in NLV on LVBN.
Good Luck!

Boardwalk closes January 9th.
San Remo (now or soon to be Hooters) has had $2 games in the past, but I don't remember seeing anything below $3 when I stopped by there in October.
You could always go play $5 Pai Gow Poker at Barbary -- the game is so slow and such a low house advantage (compared to how long it takes to play) that you're unlikely to lose too much if you don't mind a different game. They usually have 2-3 $5 Pai Gow tables running, though I've seen it go to $10 at busier times.

Very few casinos still have sub-$5 blackjack tables. And even fewer still are places in which you would want to spend time. The disappearance of the cheap blackjack table is very disappointing. Perhaps even more disappointing is the ever increasing watered down nature of mixed drinks provided by the casinos to its gamers (save for paid drinks at the bar).

Casino Royale right on the strip has a $2 blackjack table.
When I was there the weekend of Dec. 17, Casino Royale didn't have any regular blackjack as I recall. Instead they had a gimmick game called Blackjack Switch, in which you put down $5 minimum on two hands, and can switch your second card between the hands if you desire. The drawback is that the dealer pushes on 22 instead of busting. Not sure what that does with the odds, but the general rule is that gimmick games are more house-friendly than the traditional games.

It looks like that general rule might be wrong in this case -- Wizard Of Odds has posted house advantage for Blackjack Switch at 0.18%.

I didn't read the details, but it seems like a pretty reasonable option if played correctly.

I just got back from LAS last night and spent much time at Casino Royale this trip..I just love this place! I did not see any "basic" BJ tables, only 4 of these BJ Switch tables, very sad. :(
They did however have $2 mini craps and $1/3 Roulette (Inside/Outside min)
I was playing $5 BJ and Casino War tables at my hotel (Monte Carlo) all weekend. ^

The $2 craps table is what kept me coming here. Stayed at the Venetian next door - and gambled "cheap" all day/night. Getting in on the craps table (there were 3 of them) can take a while, as it's cheap, and the odds are much better than any other casino close by.

Was just there a few weekends ago. Slots A Fun had two $1 tables and many $3 tables all weekend; Hotel San Remo (Soon to be Hooters) had $3 single deck black jack and also a $3 regular black jack table, they had $3 craps as well. Downtown there was a bunch of $2 tables at the Fitzgeralds (including the only Spanish 21 table under $10 I could find anywhere). As others have mentioned, El Cortez has $3 tables, but it is not in the immediate Freemont Street Area, about 2-3 blocks to the East. Off the strip on Tropicana Road, Wild Wild West had $2 and $3 blackjack tables. Casino Royale is left with $5 blackjack for the most part, but they do have this BlackJack switch for $5 (or $10 per bet) but you end up usually winning one hand, so if trying to stick around for a while, this game could work. Also as was mentioned as well, Sahara only has $3 tables on graveyard shift through very early morning hours.
I also heard from a few locals that a place called Ellis Island, which I guess is somewhere off the strip will have $1 and $2 blackjack at times, and they allow you to play multiple hands if available. Many locals said they prefered this place since it is off the strip but still convienent to get to.
Hope this helps.

Ellis Island rocks!! ^ ^ This place is either in or part of a Super 8 Motel...I really can't remember. But anyhow, it is a small casino with just enough table games for my liking. :) I was there on graveyard shift and the dealers were so bad it was hilarious! Usually when they would mess up they would rule in my favor or wipe the hand clean. Still free drinking for me! :D
And, the bar here is a fun time along with the BEST karaoke bar in Vegas. Google Ellis Islan Karaoke and you'll see. :)

I've often wondered why empty tables during the daytime couldn't be $1 bj (wouldn't it be more profitable than the penny slots all over the place, even in the big hotel casinos? Unless the personnel involved make it cost ineffective). I think they are missing out on a huge fraction (me) of the crowd that would love to play table games, but not confident enough to jump in at minimum $5 and up; let us get comfortable playing at cheap (seems to me otherwise emtpy) tables in the daytime, and maybe we'll throw our $$ away with a little more abandon at night! (Or learn not to? )

Actually, the penny slots are the fastest growing segment of the slot market --- and you are often wagering much more than a penny.... on these machines you can play many lines for many coins... easily making each pull as much as 200, 300 or even more pennies... and these machines pay off in the 80% to 88% range... which is much tighter than the quarter or $1 machines... so, they are very profitable to the casinos... much more profitable than a $1 or $2 blackjack table.

Motley Fool did an investment analysis of some of the casino companies and showed that the casinos with 1 and 2 cent slot machines were making a lot more revenue than those that started at a nickel. It was for many of the reasons you specified above.
Also, there's a minimum cost perception -- if Bellagio and Venetian started running $1 tables then they'd lose some of the premium positioning their properties have been able to achieve. In other cases, they've figured out it's better to have no one (or few) playing for $5 than being packed at $1. Still, last time I was there Westin was running a promo in the afternoons with extra cheap table games to get people into their casino.

Several years ago I used to frequent Binion's Horseshoe, now known I understand as just the Horseshoe. The very first craps table as you walked in the door was always a quarter table with a 50 cent minimum bet. This was always a great table to play because you could learn the game well without putting out a fortune. It always seemed to be the luckiest table in the casino and I remember doing exceptionally well there by always taking double odds and pressing my bets. You might want to check it out. I think they also had 50 cent BJ.

Even Bellagio had $5 BJ at 3 AM.
The Bellagio is one of the nicest places to play on the strip. The limits are usually $10+ but there is a $5 BJ table set aside for handicapped access. Everytime I have been there it has had a $5 limit, even when every other table seemed like it was $25+, even on the friday of super bowl weekend. Too find it go into the casino from the lobby, as you enter the casino look to the first line of tables to your right. It will be on the backside of the pit at the end closest to the lobby. You'll see it because of the low table/chairs. They keep 2 spots open for wheelchair access, but the rest of the spots are normal chairs (Not high stools like standard tables)
