I'm trying to get a hotel room 2.5* or 3* hotel room in El Paso for the night of Wednesday, December 28. I was hoping to get the Marriott or the Courtyard. I have bid past $65 and am surpised to have not even received a counteroffer.
The data for El Paso on betterbidding.com and bft is really old, and there's not much of it. Has anyone had any success bidding for hotels in El Paso?
Also, I would think things would be pretty slow on that date. Is that a correct assumption?
Thanks.

The Sun Bowl college football game will be played on Dec. 30th. Since both temas are from out-of-state, I would guess this is what has rooms tied up.

Have you tried Hotwire?
I am seeing a 2.5 star hotel at the ELP airport for $49
But yes, the SunBowl is on the 30th, and it's going to be busy ;)

Thanks for the info. We'll probably go with the Hotwire deal.

Just curious--what hotel did you get and what price? We're working on a trip to ELP some time in the next few months--I got some hotel recommendations on a thread I posted elsewhere on Flyertalk but curious to hear your experience with whatever you booked in El Paso.
Thanks,
Katherine

Thanks,
KatherineI got the Baymont El Paso from Hotwire for $52 before taxes. The place was OK but not great. I imagine I would have found something much better on Priceline but I arrived right before Northwestern played UCLA in the Sun Bowl.

Thanks--and I did see your bad timing re: the Sun Bowl. :-)
Someone on my thread had recommended the Holiday Inn Express downtown as clean and good, and it's coming in around $65 at night on priorityclub.com right now--just FYI for the future. So, I guess I'll skip the Baymont...

Katherine

I had no idea the Baymont was with Hotwire
At $52 you did save some money, but not a whole lot. At least it bought breakfast and lunch ;)

I don't know if it's on Priceline or Hotwire, but I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunland Park frequently. It's north of downtown, out by the University. I've had excellent stays there.
As an update, the Baymont Inns, at least the one on the west side of ELP ceased to exist, it's now a La Quinta
