bmi diamond club - Renovation of the Senator Lounge in Frankfurt, Gate B

I was in Frankfurt last night and tried to get into the Senator Lounge in the B section. The lounge was closed for renovation and there was someone from LH sitting outside who was handing out what was effectively a 'packed lunch' in a bag. She was very apologetic and the contents were actually better than what is normally available in the lounge (no alcohol though). If you follow the sign posts you can easily access one of the many other lounges available at FRA on *A. Picked up the official notice form the LH site and inserted below

'Visitors to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in Terminal 1, Gate B, at Frankfurt Airport soon will benefit from more seats. As part of renovations from 12 to 18 December 2005, 30 additional seats will be provided, with which we shall offer you even more space to relax before, between or after a flight. Also new will be a separate area to which smokers can retire out of consideration for non-smokers.

Due to the renovation work, the lounge will be closed during its entire period, but passengers can enjoy small snacks at its entrance. We look forward to welcoming you soon in the redesigned lounge atmosphere and apologise for any inconvenience.'

Sounds good. I was in there just a couple of weeks ago. Had to stand up to drink my G+T, so more seats are more than welcome.

Pitty they dont offer spirits in the business class lounge. That seemed to be twice the size of the senator lounge.

Was in FRA last night and the lounge has now reopened. Unfortunately, still packed to the rafters!! Moved further down the corridor to the Business Lounge which was much quieter.

No obvious improvement in the lounge, looked exactly like I remembered it (though I am not the most observant person I have to admit)

If this means the lounge won't be so smoky, then it's a welcome change indeed. ^

Not sure if it does mean it will be less smoky, but I have to agree it is sometimes like walking through fog in there, probably due to the number of people in there, it always seems to be packed out.
