MilesBuzz! - Transfer UA/AA miles to VS ??- Please help

Hi all,

First post on this site, so please take it easy on me if I’m not in the correct forum……

I currently have a lot of miles with both UA and AA however 9000 miles sort on Virgin Atlantic to upgrade to Upper Class on a trip back to LHR.(40k needed in total)

I’m wondering if there is anyway I can transfer some of my miles from UA or AA to my VS account? I’m usually a Business class traveler on UA however heard that VS is far superior in upper class.

Any help is really appreciated – BTW – I’m planning this trip in Feb 2006.

While I can't help you with info on transfering miles, I can tell you that VS is indeed FAR superior to UA/AA in business class.

by changing via Diners Club rewards 40k UA miles would convert to 20K VS miles ( other paths available but you could get only 6k VS miles)

Quick question - how do I transfer UA Miles to Diners Club??

Transfer 8000 miles from AMEX Membership Rewards account into VS Flying Club. Purchase 8000 AMEX Membershup Rewards points for 200USD.

However, note these pitfalls...

1. You must have a Diners Club card, annual fee $95.
2. You will lose 50% of the miles in the conversion from AA to Diners. 16,000 miles become 8,000 points. I believe this is the same if you transfer from UA.
3. AA charges $25 per transfer.
4. Diners charges $0.95 per 1,000 to transfer to airline, which would be $7.60 for 8,000.
