I can't seem to find a fare for this; I've gone to www.renfe.es, as well as www.diebahn.de, and while I see the train itself, there is no fare info. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Thanks, kaptan Dec 13, 05, 10:16 am 2nd class: Between $72-$95 1st class: Between $120-$232 These fares were found at www.raileurope.com , but the price you pay at the train station could vary based on specials and that sort of stuff. This is a night train so if you want a bed instead of a seat, thats the higher price. The $232 is for a "Gran Clase Single", fully private compartment with private toilet and shower. rrz518 Dec 13, 05, 1:13 pm Thanks for that site, it works perfectly. Interesting how that can quote a fare, yet the official rail system web site cannot? Diabo Dec 14, 05, 8:05 am What about busses from MAD to LIS? (or from any other city served from AMS by LCCs?) Eurolines only runs 3 busses a day from MAD to LIS at very inconvenient times. (€40 o/w, €68 rt). Are there any other options? Ulrich Dec 14, 05, 12:11 pm If you use the Spanish version of the site, you will get to http://www.renfe.es/viajes/precios_int.html and then to http://www.renfe.es/glineas/espana_portugal.html and then finally click on http://www.renfe.es/glineas/pdf/lusitania_adultos_2005.pdf As you can see there, the night train costs 54 Euro for a seat in second class and 76 Euro for a bed in second class. Diabo Dec 14, 05, 1:08 pm Thanx 4 the link. Is that €54 a "go to station, buy ticket, take first train available" rate or is there small print to deal with? Ulrich Dec 14, 05, 3:22 pm Sorry, I don't know that. It seems to me that this is the standard fare and you'll probably get a ticket for that price even on short notice if a seat is still available. MADflyer Dec 15, 05, 8:17 pm Thanx 4 the link. Is that €54 a "go to station, buy ticket, take first train available" rate or is there small print to deal with? I was at the Renfe ticket office in Madrid yesterday buying a ticket in advance and the price of the domestic high-speed trains was set with no variation in price by booking in advance. The trains could fill up is all by not booking in advance. The fine print did contain several discount posibilities though such as a 20% rt discount. I was happy to find that by showing a international air arrival ticket I received a 25% discount on a connecting train. haveric Dec 21, 05, 4:25 pm Just a warning, I've travelled this route before and tickets can be hard to come by on the weekends. Particularly if you want some form of sleeping arrangements. |
