Are DVDs much cheaper to buy in Seoul than in Europe or the States? If so, where's a good place to buy them? Tower Records? Is the biggest one in Kangnam-gu or Seocho-gu?

But then there's the Region 1 issues and etc. mcg1000 Dec 12, 05, 4:49 pm Is this a 'read btwn the lines' post for bootleg dvd? If not, then answer is no, buy them stateside. No, no. I'm looking to buy legal versions. I have a region-free player and just thought they might be cheaper (like in Hong Kong). MikeInMass Dec 12, 05, 5:50 pm Near Yongsan Electronics Market there are outdoor vendors selling new DVDs. Prices on new releases are not incredibly cheap or anything, but they are a bit lower than stateside, and you may be able to bargain if you are buying a bunch of discs. More interesting to me were the vendors with tables full of what I take to be remainders; I found lots of half-forgotten movies and lots of concert DVDs for three or four bucks (US) apiece. Lots of Japanese animation, too, if that's what you are into. |
