Las Vegas - High Prices in April at the moment?

Hi all

I'm looking to do a four night stay in LAS arriving 9th April 2006 until 13th April... this is the week immediately before Easter (Good Friday being the 14th).

At the moment it looks like hotels are quite expensive - the Luxor for example is showing USD109 per night, (but on the other hand places like The Sahara are still at USD50).

I notice rates at the Luxor drop back to around USD90 in May.

Question: is there a special event on around the 9th of April or is it just that specials will be available closer to the time?

If a special event is on then I will book the Sahara now! (not that that's really where I want to stay - but the price is right).

With thanks for your help in adavnce

Regards

Spring Break

The pools open.

The weather is warm again.

I find only one decent size convention going on 4/5 - 7. CTIA Wireless Association with 35000 attendees.

If the hotels expect to fill their rooms the rates are higher. When they know occupancy will be low so are the prices. I always book a refundable room rate and watch for specials as the dates get closer.

LHR...I will be there 4/8 - 4/12 and I'm noticing the same high rates that you are. I'll keep an eye out for something better, please let me know if you find anything. Thx

It's definitely Spring Break.

Both $90 and $109 are very good rates for the Luxor. In really busy weekends it will be much more.

The Monte Carlo is showing 99.00 per night 4/9-13 plus bonus' such as a $30 food and beverage credit. Good price for that time of year at a decent property!

Good Luck

Anyone know why the Venetian rate jumps during the period 4/16 to 4/21?

4/16 - $199
4/17 - $199

Then there is a jump for these dates:

4/18 - 4/21 - $439

Other hotels don't see a similar type of jump on the same dates, and there isn't any major convention on that week.

The NAB convention starts on the 22nd (not the 24th, when the exhibits start) - I know that there are many pre-NAB meetings and activities, so that (especially given the Venetian's proximity to the Sands Exhibition Hall and the LVCC via monorail) would be my guess.
